I have just finished the first two weeks of the latest Vancomycin regimen (250mg four times a day). I think I am getting better. Some days are better;some days are worse, but I’m better than I was a week ago. I’ll spare you the detailed poop analysis. Today, I started taking 250mg three times a day for a week. I hope that won’t cause a reversal again.
Daughter Jennifer and Son-in-Love George took the boys to New York for a week in the family cottage on the lake. The first week in August is the regularly scheduled week for George’s parents and siblings. I’ve used the quiet time to work on Big Creek – A Closer Look at a National Park – yet again. Daughter Kathy read through it and made some great suggestions and pointed out plenty of bad grammar, typos, etc. Andy also read it again and made a few comments. I hope I am really done with it this time.
Some of you must think I am on my deathbed since I have not been sending out pictures of my Exceptional Grandsons. I have taken some, but the are not very good. Many are way out of focus. I had a big smear of something on the lens that I didn’t notice one day; all those pictures were bad. However, I did get a few.
Andy and I have been taking our walks around the Thiensville Village Park along the Milwaukee River. There is a nice paved path around the park. The only drawback is the goose poop. (There I go talking about poop again.)
Andy said he would not play baseball there.
I saw two things I’ve never seen before at that park. The father told me the baby’s grandfather, a welder, had made this custom hot rod wagon for the baby.
A man was practicing at the tennis courts with a ball tossing contraption. I’ve seen a pitching machine for baseballs before but, not for tennis balls.
When we were in Maryland, my Sister Barbara wondered whether Jennifer would like our old croquet set. (We have stored a lot of things at Barbara’s house.) Barbara called Jennifer and asked her. Then I loaded the bag into the motorhome to deliver it. When we got to Wisconsin and I pulled the bag out of the motorhome, Jennifer gasped, “I thought she said crochet set!”
I set it up in the too-tall grass and showed the boys how to play it. It was a game of croquet like you’ve never seen before. They were too close together and swinging wildly. They didn’t get the concept of taking turns. I was sure someone was going to get whacked with a mallet.
Cam had a little trouble with the wickets.
I didn’t see this happen.
Owen and Cam both love to play with my weights. That is another grandma worry. They are only five pounds but, that’s a lot to land on little toes, even big ones for that matter.
We also take the boys to Cedar Creek Park in Cedarburg. This is their favorite park because it has a piece of playground equipment that looks like a fire truck. The park has a new piece of playground equipment this year. Owen carefully climbed near the top. He is the one with his back to the camera. Cam managed to climb onto the first nest at the bottom.
The real draw for them was the large sandbox. They must have played in there for an hour.
Andy was keeping an eye on us from the picnic table.
Another favorite play place is at the Dairy Queen. I bet we could just leave them there and they would not even notice we were gone.
I got a nice picture of the full moon. It is sharper with the larger file size.
Cam wanted to look under our futon sofa in the motorhome. I keep canned goods and some cooking utensils under there. He saw the cans of corn and asked for some. Of course, Baba Yaga had to oblige. I put some in a small tempered-glass bowl, which thrilled him. I put him on the couch with the bowl between his feet. Notice how he is holding it like a monkey. He ate about half the can. That boy was crazy over corn. Daughter Jennifer was surprised that I had canned corn; I never bought canned vegetables when she was a child. I had to explain that the boat and then the motorhome had very small freezers, so I switched to some canned things to be sure to have some on hand for emergencies. I use it in my corn and black bean salad.
The boys spend a lot of time outside.
The boys filled some spray bottles with water from a downspout barrel. They spent a lot of time spraying the driveway with water, making pictures and “roads”, as well as other things I could not identify.

Boys are so adorable. Glad you are getting extra time there. Hopefully your cdiff will stay moving up and you don’t relapse again.
I am playing camp counselor for two plus weeks as Ariel fired her babysitter this morning. She was terrible.
Anyway we are finally in a position to enjoy some Lilly time. We only got kitchen water two weeks ago. We also mostly got rid of theworkers.

Thank you for the update. I am getting over a recurring middle ear infection, in my bad ear with the flat-line audiogram.
We are expecting Jennifer and George and kids tomorrow morning. Marion and Nina have some meal planned. We are packing and getting ready to drive to the Adirondacks on Saturday morning. Marion is getting on fine with her new knee, now that she has a matched set.
Your picture of Cam holding the corn bowl reminds me of something with Rebecca at about that age. Our computer was set up for Nina, in a high-back office computer chair with arms. Rebecca would sit on our laps to do her computer games, or we would put a pillow on the chair if she wanted to compute by herself.
One day I noticed the screen with its usual antics with the mouse cursor moving around. Then I noticed that Rebecca’s arms were on the chair arms. I walked closer to see that she was moving the mouse with her foot, clicking with her big toe.

I can picture Rebecca like that. She was so adorable at that age. Still is, of course. Have a great time at the lake. We had discussed a short trip to visit her while we were in Maryland, but C-diff changed those plans. Tell here hello and love from us.

I was rather depressed about it for a while. But, now things are not as bad – I make it to the toilet most of the time, I’m not going as many times per day. I now have the confidence to go out, as long as there are toilets handy. So, I guess I’m learning to live with it. I hope that is only short term though!

Thank you! I think they are the most beautiful children I’ve ever seen. and the smartest. and the sweetest. I’m not biased am I? Goose poop really is an issue here, and also other northern towns on the water. You really have to watch your step.

Yes, we simply changed the date on our cross-country itinerary from 2016 to 2017. There are five or six national parks on that list. Thanks for the good wishes.

The croquet game was hilarious and they were so enthusiastic. I’m mostly glad they didn’t bash each other in their excitement.
