I Have Some Catching Up to Do

I haven’t been posting much on my blog or Facebook page. I even stopped wearing my camera and taking dozens of pictures every day.  I have to admit that I have been in a funk for a couple of months. First, there was the stress of looking at houses and planning to settle down (partially). Then, the nasty political season really got me down, mostly the meanness posted on Facebook and elsewhere. I really felt down when we decided not to go to Wisconsin for Christmas. The little grandsons are growing too fast and I can’t see them as much as I want to.  I miss my grown-up kids, Jennifer and Christopher. THE BOOK has been so stressful too. It is at the book designer’s now, getting corrected …..again. I guess I was stressed about singing in the yacht club’s Razzle Dazzle Review. I didn’t think I could sing my songs very well. My position with Florida Keys Concert Association has been a lot of work for the past month. The motorhome is a wreck with concert association “stuff” piled everywhere.

We decided to sell our land at the beach in North Carolina and buy a house when that deal is done. Last week, I decided to stop reading Facebook posts by anyone being rude, mean, or nasty.  That felt better. We have also decided not to take the cross-country trip we had planned for last summer until next year.  We’ll spend more time with family that we missed last year, due to my Clostridium Difficile.  THE BOOK will get done when it gets done.  I’ve decided to stop stressing over that. There is nothing I can do to rush Hugo House.  The Razzle Dazzle Revue was last Friday night.

The crowd cheered and clapped loudly.  Andy and Dave Scott told me to just get up there and have fun.  I did have fun wearing my purple sequin dress and white feather boa.  I never wore them before, and it took me about an hour to put on fake eyelashes.   I got a lot of compliments on my fascinator that daughter Jennifer made for me last summer. The rush of the beginning of the concert season is over and actually went fairly smoothly.  I’m enjoying it.

The event that marks the end of the funk was the past three days at Camp Chappy.

That is our annual motorhome campout near the Seven Mile Bridge, right on the ocean.  We did nothing but eat, drink, and talk for three days and nights.  It ended this morning with twenty-two of us having breakfast at the Sunset Grille before we drove the three-and-a-half miles back home. This was the thirteenth year of the campout and our ninth or tenth.  I am relaxed.

The camera has not been completely idle.  I’ll post some more pictures later.  Today, you get to see our sitting area outside the motorhome, between the car and the shed.

This is our dining room, behind the shed.  It is very pleasant back there, overlooking our mangrove swamp.

I agree. Singing is good for the spirit. How can you be sad while singing? Well, I can’t as long as I sing happy songs.

I got it at a thrift shop last in Wisconsin last summer. Now I am going to have to work on getting skinnier for if I ever have another occasion to wear it.

It was so much fun just to be silly. I don’t think my singing was all that great, but everyone has told me I was excellent.

I just love your blog! You look fantastic in purple sequins! Wish I could see better the eyelashes!!
You have had a rough year, but I’m hoping this is the beginning of the return of happy-go-lucky Dinata!
P.s. maybe you could look at homes here in Port Charlotte or Englewood? Close to the beach and many beautiful presurves!

Oh, those eyelashes! It felt clownish, but Andy thought they looked great.

Hi Dinata and Andy. My spell checker doesn’t think I spelled your name correctly. It thinks you should be named: Pinata, Dina ta, Dina-ta, or Dina. Think I’ll stick with Dinata and “add” you to our dictionary. But actually, that had nothing to do with my “comment”. I noticed that we must have similar tastes in outdoor furniture. The “brown” table between the wicker chairs looks like it might be from the same collection we purchased from Lowe’s when we first moved to Florida. If the two “squares” on the top are floor tiles that insert into the top… I’m pretty sure of it. Glad to hear that you are clearing your “funk”. As we get a little older, the things that pile up don’t seem to clear quite the same way as when we are younger. I’m not sure if it’s the rate at which we process them or our tolerance for the height of the pile… but it helps a lot when we recognize that that there is nothing “big” that is wrong… just a lot of “little” things. We are the ones adding them up to make them “Big”. Treat your mind like an “Etch-a-Sketch”. Turn it over and give it a good shake. Ninety percent of the problems will just disappear! 🙂

Yes, we bought that furniture set at Home Depot. Must be the same stuff.

I love your “advice” and the Etch-a-Sketch imagery. I might just stand on my head to do it . . . or maybe just lean way over.

So glad to see you out and about again, it has been a difficult couple of months all round and not getting any easier but we have to focus on what is working and on those close to us and hope common sense prevails elsewhere! You look spectacular in your purple get-up! Well done 👏🏻

Thank you! I had so much fun wearing that dress and swinging the boa as I walked. It’s too bad I don’t have any other reasons to wear it.

Glad you’re feeling better, Dinata. You shouldn’t stress so much about things- you’ve had a tough year health-wise, give yourself a break. And you looked extremely glamorous in your purple dress! 💕

Sometimes we just try to do too much. I’ve kind of felt that way for the last two months.

I’m glad that you’re feeling better. You look cute and totally at ease on stage.

Sorry you have been down too, but it is nice to know I’m not the only one. I am a cheerful, happy person by nature so it is unusual for me to feel bad, but I guess I had some reasons. I think some time off was good for me.

Welcome back and thank you for reminding me why I never signed up for Facebook and tweeting. Remember to send me your mailing address. I have three old typewriters that need workouts, sending out real letters to real addresses.

Also, I recall you or Andy sending me a LinkedIn request that I might have forgotten. Send again if you want.

am feeling stressed that you have been feeling so stressed!

perhaps you give too much of yourself to others? time for Dinata to give to Dinata? as with Camp Chappy…

p.s. – you need not have been concerned about Razzle Dazzle. you did a g-r-e-a-t job with all that jazz, and you were gorgeous in that slinky purple dress, boa & fascinator! and eyelashes! we all were blown away 😉

am so totally jealous that you have a mangrove hammock to sit by and “study”. if i had one out our back door, i would get nothing done. would be too busy watching the bugs, birds and geckoes hour after hour 😉

I kinda understand about the grandkids, we went to Indiana for a short trip for Christmas, wanted to bring one back for a visit, but it didn’t work out and we had to return to Tennessee for the dentist before the end of the year! But at least we did have a nice visit with them both while we were up there in Indiana.

Looks like you are having fun and that’s great! Everything will fall in place, take one day at a time!

Enjoy your warm weather! We go from 60’s down to 20’s, its crazy! All the daffodils are blooming and trees are budding way to early! Hope we don’t pay for the warm weather in March and April!

Enjoying you blog, see you in the spring!

I think I am pretty much over the funk now. I think what did it was unfollowing/unfriending people who post mean/ugly/nasty political stuff on Facebook. I feel much better now!
