Allegiance – The Movie

We drove to Key West today, with friends Martin and Betsy, to see Allegiance.

Daughter Jennifer called me from Milwaukee to insist that we go see it.  She said she and George were crying real tears when they left the theater.  That just shows how hard-hearted they are.  Or, maybe it shows how soft-hearted I am.  I started crying at the beginning of the movie.  This is such an important story and part of our history.  I wish everyone could see it as so much of it is relevant today.

The movie is a film of the Broadway stage show.  I’ve decided that is better than seeing it on stage, live.

Go see it if you have a chance.  Moving and thought-provoking.

      I wish I had posted a “GO THERE” post beforehand to let everyone know about it. There were only seven people, including the four of us, in the theater.

    Maybe good musicals are making a comeback. I saw La La Land, and enjoyed it (apart from the opening number on the freeway which was way OTT for me) as I liked Singing in the Rain and the Fred and Ginger movies. I’m glad I saw it, but wouldn’t want a copy.

      I love musicals. I watched them on television when I was a kid. They were old 30s, 40s, and 50s movies. Fred and Ginger were the BEST!

    thank you. THAT was the movie (couldn’t remember the name) i wanted i us to try to see this winter at Marathon Cinema. this b/c i’m a bit of a Sinophile and Nippophile and wouldn’t say “studied”, but a long time ago read a lot about the Japanese Americans’ internment during WWII.

    i can’t believe that it was presented in musical format though. too serious to make a musical out of it. IMNSHO.

    further, IMNSOHO, and however, feeling empathy for persons _lawfull_y in the US is a lot different than being a bleeding heart for illegal immigrants.
