I have been thinking about a house for several years. We’ve been talking about it for over a year. We looked in the fall in Tennessee and then some more in Florida. It was too stressful to deal with.
But, I have been mulling it over for the past four months, doing some internet shopping around, and decided last week that I was ready to make a decision. Andy agreed that the time is right for a number of reasons. We decided to go with a house in the Arlington Ridge community in Leesburg, Florida. We mailed in the contract and deposit today.
I’m not freaking out so it may be a good decision for us. It is leading into the next phase of our life. Just like we merged from the boat to the RV gradually, we are not giving up the RV just yet. I expect that will come in a few more years. I guess I want a house, but I don’t want to settle down.
This is the house, except for that little golf-cart garage attached. I don’t think we’ll need that.
omigosh! it’s beautiful! we are so excited & happy for you! is it “to be built”, or is it turnkey ready? if ready to move in, when will you do so? and, you are going to be able to enjoy the best of both worlds – a “homeplace”, and, RV wanderlust. this is great! so exciting! congratulations!

In this development, they don’t build ’em until you buy ’em. With a few, model, exceptions. We are going up there on the 27th to choose all kinds of stuff: paint colors, floors, counter tops, cabinets, light fixtures, plumbing fixtures, etc. At this point, the projected closing date is October 16. That is just an estimate.

I wasn’t sure, but I was hoping it is a safe area too. So, why does the community need a gate?

Awesome, Dinata! It is lovely! I wish we had a garage for our golf cart in Florida. We use our golf cart all the time.

We are thinking that we’ll have a two-car garage and only one car. We should have room for the golf cart on the other side.

It is a typical Florida house, but I think we’ll be comfortable in it. You’ll have to come visit some day. There is a chance that I’ll have THE BOOK when we go to Big Creek in May. But, I don’t take much stock in the publisher promises any more.

Enjoy the move but keep the RV at least for some more years.

That is our plan. We made a slow transition moving off the boat too. While living aboard, we bought a small motorhome. It was over five years before we sold the boat and moved into a larger motorhome. I hope we can do motorhome and house for that long. Even if we don’t keep the big one, maybe we can downsize to a Class B (van size).
