Hurricane Irma

Three Sandhill Cranes were across the street from the motorhome, one was kneeling down, which I had not seen before.  They moved about twenty feet and the same crane went down on its knees again. It looked rather sad like that.  Then, when the other two had moved on further, it gave two wing flaps and was standing back up and walking again.

We went to the house twice today, mostly just to get out and about.  Although we did pass some houses with workers, no laborers were laboring at our house on Labor Day.  I think they should all have a holiday.

We have been watching Irma closely.  We were planning to drive the car to Maryland on Wednesday for Joey Cumberland’s wedding.  But, this evening, all the storm trackers and models seem to agree that the storm is going right up Florida.  We can’t wait a few days to see what happens and make it to the wedding. So, we agreed tonight to leave for parts north tomorrow. We’ll watch the storm as we go and, as soon as we decide it is safe, will leave the motor home parked somewhere and then drive the car on to Maryland.

Dinata, One of our warehouses in Gainesville, Ga. is between leases at present. We have a big door that will accommodate a tractor and trailer and 24 ft. ceiling. It is available to you for FREE if you wish to use it. Let me know. Clyde

Thank you so much Clyde! Andy decided this morning to leave the RV in place. He anguished over the decision for a few hours this morning. We are heading to MD by car Wednesday morning. I sure would like to see you and Pat again though.

Where does sister barbara live? llb Sure hope I get to see you first of week. Hesitate to wait for Bill’s return so if we can get together after he gets back, that’ll be a bonus. Please let me know when you’ll be available after nuptials. llb >

Sister Barbara lives in Prince Frederick, MD about half an hour drive north of Solomons. How about Monday? We are driving up to Rockville MD and can stop in DC on the way. We could also drive back into town during the day on Tuesday if you prefer, but Monday works better for us.

Monday is great. You pick the time. You’re welcome to come here and hang out on fly bridge or we can meet somewhere for a meal. You pick. Know your time’s limited since this is a family trip so don’t want to horn in on your time with them. Looking forward to visiting with you. Laura

Great! I am not an early riser but am thinking maybe ten or eleven o’clock in the morning. We can miss the morning rush hour from here. The grandchildren are in school so we really don’t need to get to Rockville too early. We will want to miss the afternoon rush hour though. I would love to meet at the boat. A bit of rocking would soothe my soul. Maybe we can walk someplace for a bite, or we can drive. I am looking forward to seeing you again!

Remind me. Which marina are you in? I am familiar with the waterfront (or how it was 17 years ago). We subscribed to Arena Stage on Maine Avenue for 25 years. I miss that place.

And remind me of the boat’s name too.

Gangplank Marina 600 Water St SW catiecornered from Arena Stage. Kindred Spirit III. You’ll need to call or text so I can meet you at the gate to let you in. There are 2 restaurants between Arena Stage and Safeway—walking distance. Haven’t been to either but hear good things about Station 3—or maybe it’s 4. Shall I expect you 11-ish? Looking forward. May be less expensive to park on the street but don’t know what the deal of this parking lot is. Will try and find out and let you know. Laura

We’ll aim for some time between 10 and 11. Not sure how long it will take us to get there exactly. I have your # on the phone and will call you as we get closer, for a better estimate.
