Last Friday, our neighbors (Bill and Dawn) from Key by the Sea in Marathon stopped in to visit us. He reads the blog and saw that we are just a few miles away from their RV park. After talking half the afternoon, we went to Aw Shucks for dinner. We had a great time.
Then, when I got back to the RV, I had a final draft of THE BOOK in the email. I started proofreading it again that night. And, all day Saturday, all day Sunday, half the day on Monday because I took Andy to the hospital in Gainesville for an oral exam. (His teeth look great), all day Tuesday, and most of the day today. I mean from the time I got out of bed in the morning until I went to back to bed at night. I have just now returned it to Patricia at Hugo House after having read through it three times. On the third time, I read it aloud. That does help. I read slower and caught more errors. If a sentence was awkward, I would stumble over it while speaking. My eyes are bleary and my throat is sore.
The reason I didn’t work on it all day today was that Andy insisted I go with him to the office to talk with our service advisor Will Burke. I was in the throes of proofreading and didn’t want to go. Will met us outside the front door of Alliance Coach and said he had some bad news. I told him I didn’t want to hear any bad news as we walked in the door. A lot of the customers in the waiting room and a good number of Alliance employees were standing there looking at me. Then I saw the birthday cake and everyone started singing happy birthday. The owner’s wife presented me with a large bouquet of flowers. Andy had arranged a surprise. And, I was definitely surprised by it. It was a huge cake and there was enough for all the customers, employees, and the mechanics out in the garage. What fun!
Then Andy took me to a Japanese restaurant for sushi. That is my traditional birthday wish. After lunch, I was right back on the book. And tonight, I sent my markup back to Patricia. They are going to return it to me one more time so I can make sure all my changes were made correctly. Whew!
Happy Birthday, Dinata!!!

As usual, a big “wow!” on all counts 😉 You have a wonderful, fulsome life. And a wonderful husband O:-). Bless Andy’s peapickin’ heart to surprise you that way. It sounds like it’s getting close to P Day (Publishing Day)!

Yes, I made a good catch, but then again, he says he made the good catch. Andy has never heard that expression. He told me to tell you he’s never picked a pea in his life. But, he has picked places to pee.
I sure do hope this book will get out this year. When all my corrections are made, they will be sending it back to me to make sure they were all made correctly. Then it will go to the printer. That process takes a couple weeks. I think they print one for the publisher approval before they print the whole run. I hope to have a book launch party in Marathon. Bettey Chaplin said she wants to throw it for me. Bless her pea pickin’ heart!
