These are Lignum Vitae (ironwood, tree-of-life) blossoms. They are about as big, maybe just a wee bit bigger than apple blossoms. It is beautiful when a tree has a lot of blossoms. This tree is in Oceanfront Park, behind City Hall, where we often take walks.
This bird is resting on mangrove roots. I thought it was an egret until I got the picture on the computer and saw the greenish legs. I had to look it up to discover that it is a juvenile Little Blue Heron. The photo is not too sharp, but you can see that the legs are green – ish.
I forgot to post this exciting event last week. We harvested our first (cherry) tomato on January 21. Of course, this requires a ceremony. Then a feast. I didn’t have any mozzarella cheese on hand, so Andy chose Swiss and I chose feta. I would not recommend feta Caprese.
