French Fougasse Bread

I recently watched an episode of Julia Child where her French chef guest made this bread. So, today I tried my hand at it. With rosemary, it seemed a lot like focaccia to me.

It is basic French bread with liberal amounts of olive oil. Once I shaped it and cut it in the pan, I sprayed it with olive oil and sprinkled on salt, rosemary, and Parmigiano.

It was more appetizing than it appears in the photo. And, coming out of a 440-degree oven, it was HOT! I snipped off sections with scissors so I wouldn’t burn my fingers pulling it apart.

We liked it!
